Canada’s Maltais announces retirement from competitive snowboarding – Waterloo Record


VANCOUVER — Canada’s Dominique Maltais is retiring from competitive snowboarding.

She battled a back injury last season and has not been able to recover enough to allow her to compete at the highest level.

Maltais won bronze in snowboard-cross at the 2006 Olympics in Turin and won silver at the 2014 Games in Sochi.

She reached the podium 38 times over 77 World Cup starts (15 gold, 13 silver, 10 bronze).
