The Forrest County Sheriff’s Office will soon be the recipient of three new motorcycles, made possible with $53,400 in money seized by the department for crimes including drug infractions.

The purchase of the 2017 Harley-Davidson FLHTP Electra Glide Solo Law Enforcement Motorcycles, priced at $17,800 per unit, was approved during Monday’s meeting of the Forrest County Board of Supervisors.

“(Forrest County) Sheriff Billy McGee asked the board of supervisors to use a portion of his asset seizure funds to purchase new patrol motorcycles,” board president David Hogan said. “Those are monies that are coming directly from drug offenders and felons, and being put back to use for public safety.
