When the Grammy nominations were announced Tuesday, the late superstar, who won nine trophies over the course of his career, received only one mention for his final qualifying record – in an engineering category. Which will go to … the engineers.
HitNRun Phase Two was nominated for Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical. If it wins, the winners will be Booker T., Dylan Dresdow, Chris James, Prince & Justin Stanley, and Prince, who is credited as the mastering engineer.
Prince may not who be around to care anymore but his fans are. The single nomination may serve as cold-comfort after the shock of his death on April 21. Grammy analysts may be arguing about this apparent oversight for some time.
