The city of Hutchinson held their “Truth in Taxation” public hearing last night (Tuesday).
The mandated hearings are a chance for residents to hear about and comment on the proposed 2017 city budget and how much of an increase or decrease is proposed in the tax levy.
A General Fund levy increase of is 2.7 percent is being proposed.
City Administrator Matt Jaunich says on top of that there’s an EDA and HRA levy increase, which would mean the total tax impact would be a 2.8 percent increase.
The proposed General Fund Budget is just under $12-million. The General Fund levy would be just under $4.9-million.
The city council will adopt the final 2017 budgets and levy at their next meeting on December 27th.
