Jury Convicts Dan Doyle of Embezzlement – Hartford Courant


Daniel E. Doyle Jr., the charismatic nonprofit leader who built a highly regarded peace-through-sports program, was convicted on forgery and embezzlement charges Monday for siphoning more than a $1 million in unauthorized payments from the charity.

Doyle, 67, who recently lost his West Hartford home to foreclosure, created the Institute For International Sport and the World Scholar-Athlete Games, which assembled thousands of athletes from across the globe and attracted dignitaries including former President Bill Clinton and Desmond Tutu.
