Promoting safety and security, group pushes for more responsible parties – CW6 News


SAN DIEGO – The fire marshal here at home says there are no structures similar to the one in Oakland anywhere in San Diego, but underground parties happen all the time and without their knowledge.

The Electronic Music Alliance, a group made of dj’s, music producers and promoters created a safety guide three years ago and released it again to its subscribers this weekend after learning a few of its members may have died in that tragic warehouse fire.

After two days of constantly monitoring his laptop, local dj Tomas Serrano who works under the name DJ IDeaL learned his colleague and friend, Jonathan Berbaum, was killed in the Oakland fire.

“Every one of the lives that was lost is going to be a big loss for everyone, to the community and their families,” said Serrano.
