Seat Ateca review: Even Spain can’t add flair



The Seat Ateca has the potential to be one of the firms most profitable models

Arguably, this new crossover has the potential to be one of Seat’s most popular, and profitable, models. All of which is obviously great news for the company, its dealers and fans of the brand, although the irony lies in the Ateca being essentially a re-dressed version of parent firm Volkswagen’s Tiguan.

When crossover sales continue to go through the roof that’s a perfectly understandable adoption. And it’s not like Seat hasn’t done it with its other cars before, most clearly on the likes of the Mii city car or the Leon hatchback.

It’s just that this Ateca seems rather more obvious. That’s no bad thing of course; because while the VW Tiguan is a perfectly good car it’s certainly a set of wheels in need of a personality of some – or indeed any –…
