Stage Completions Inc. (“Stage” or the “Company”), the leading innovator in single-point entry fracturing technology, announced today that the company has set a new operational record in the Eagle Ford Basin of South Texas with the deployment and fracture stimulation of 117 stages in a single well.
The new record comes from operations for a single well in the Eagle Ford Basin of South Texas, a key shale play in the United States. The operations launched on April 24, 2017, fracturing 117 intervals with the Bowhead Technology in a record time of 160 hours and successfully stimulated with 11.6 million lbs (5,800 ton) of sand, 361,000 bbl (57,394 m3) of fluid, maximum sand concentration of 4.7 ppg (563 kg/m3) and 42 bbl/min (5 m3/min) average rate, breaking its record number of stages in a single well without requiring Coiled Tubing or Wireline.
An advanced acoustic and pressure monitoring system installed on the wellhead was employed to confirm the successful launch and consistent sleeve engagement of the collet at every stage, not only adding validation to the shifting signature observed on the surface treating pressure, but also capturing the pressure increases as the collet traveled through each installed sleeve until landing at the target depth. This unique feature provided the operator with the ability to accomplish a live stage count, monitoring and locating the collet in the wellbore as part of the launching and shifting process throughout the execution of the fracturing operation.
“Our proprietary technology was built from the ground up to raise industry standards in single-point entry fracturing,” said Sean Campbell, president and CEO of Stage Completions. “By fracturing 117 stages in 160 hours, we’re changing the expectations of well…
