Wykoff home is veritable museum of antique curiosities – Bluff Country Newspaper Group

“We’re ‘old stuff buffs,’ and he has a collection of egg beaters, so I got a collection of beater bowls,” stated Betty Schmidt, showing off what’s lining the basement walls in the couple’s Wykoff home, which will be part of the Wykoff Area Historical Society’s (WAHS) Christmas tour of homes this Saturday, Dec. 3.

Betty admitted that since they married and moved into their home 23 years ago, she’s sort of regretted showing her husband how antiquing as a sport works.

“I taught him about antiques, and he took over…it’s like creating your own monster,” she quipped, adding that the 1,100 square foot house is often bursting at its seams with items that they’ve found on trips to auctions and flea markets.
